Frederick Herman Meyer was a credible architect and his first big accomplishment was the YMCA Hotel in San Francisco. He later became the president of the California Arts and Crafts in Oakland California. He was responsible for the design of the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco and the Cadillac Hotel. He also designed 687 Vernon St. located in Oakland California my house, (Justin Hausler) The property is a historical monument and is appraised at 8 million dollars. 687 Vernon St. brings beautiful architecture to the Oakland Rose Garden Neighborhood.
Samuel Newsome and his brother Joseph formed Newsome and Newsome and broke ground in San Francisco and started an Architectual firm on 321 California Street Their forte was Queene Anne Style Architecture with vaulted ceilings, pitchd roofs, and Bungalow style Kitchens. 687 Vernon was the attraction in "Bungalow Kitchens" book. The original linoleum still exists in the dining room and kitchen and was in the centerfold and headlining article. Both Samuel Newsome and Joseph Newsome are responsible for the Architecture of the Napa Valley Opera House and The Superior courthouse in Napa Valley.
